Howell's career-high lifts Monroeville

MILAN — Gabe Howell scored 11 of his career-high 32 points in the fourth quarter as visiting Monroeville held off host Edison for a 64-58 win on Saturday in a non-league matchup. The Eagles (4-11) led the game by 15 points (42-27) at halftime, only to see the Chargers (3-12) pull within five points midway through the fourth quarter. "Give Edison credit for coming out strong in the second half," Monroeville head coach Paul Roeder said. "They made a good run, but we were able to stop the bleeding thanks to Gabe's 11 points in the fourth." Also for the Eagles, Blake Schaub and Maverick Myers each scored 10 points. For Edison, Coltyn Meagrow scored 14 points and Cole Leimeister had 13. Kayden Bourget and Davin Wendt each added eight points. Monroeville (3-7 Firelands Conference) hosts Western Reserve (7-5, 5-3) and Mansfield Christian (12-3) on Friday and Saturday on Steve Moore Court.
