South Central, New London stay atop FC

GREENWICH — The South Central girls basketball team kept pace with New London atop the Firelands Conference with Saturday's 65-17 win over visiting St. Paul. The Trojans (7-2, 4-0) led 17-4 after one quarter and 40-10 at halftime. Kendyl Beverly scored a game-high 30 points for South Central. Grace Lamoreaux added 16 points, while Emily Lamoreaux added eight. For St. Paul (1-7, 0-4), Annie Friend had six points. South Central is at Monroeville on Dec. 29, then visits Port Clinton on Jan. 2 before the first matchup at New London on Jan. 4. St. Paul is back in action on Wednesday at Fremont St. Joseph. ST. New London 52, Crestview 27 OLIVESBURG — The Wildcats outscored the host Cougars by a 14-8 margin in each of the first two quarters for a 28-16 halftime lead, then added on from there in Saturday's FC win. The Wildcats did not have a double-digit scorer in the 25-point win. Raeann Mitchell, Gracie Thomas, Pailee Wilson and Valery Henry each had eight points, while Olivia Yetter and Emilee Rowland had six points each. The Wildcats visit Western Reserve on Dec. 29 before the big matchup at home with the Trojans on Jan. 4.
