Air Force One to take off in Norwalk

NORWALK — Huron County Commissioners Tuesday morning agreed to enter into a contract with a private Ohio company to take care of regular maintenance on the county's HVAC systems. Commissioners agreed to pay Air Force One $58,773 to complete the work. As a part of the agreement, Air Force One will maintain HVAC systems at the following locations: Huron County Administration Building, 180 Milan Ave., Huron County Arts Center, 22 E. Main St., Huron County Dog Warden, 130 Shady Lane, Huron County Transfer Station, 2415 Townline Road #131, Huron County Landfill, 2415 Townline Road #131, Huron County Job and Family Services, 185 Shady Lane, Huron County BMV and Title Office, 305 Shady Lane, Huron County Office Building, 12 E. Main St., and the Huron County Treasurer's Office, 16 E. Main St. Commissioners said contracting with Air Force One was less expensive than hiring someone to internally maintain the HVAC units in county buildings. Air Force One is headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, according to the company's website. Commissioners also took care of some other business Tuesday morning. Among the items commissioners addressed were: Appropriating funds for the Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities in the amount of $31,000. The funds were appropriated "due to an unexpected addition to staff," according to the commissioners' resolution. Transferring $393,339.95 from the county's general fund to the county's bond retirement fund. Transferring $24,025 from the landfill fund to the landfill bonds fund. Transferring $13,000 from within the landfill fund from the other expenses fund to the hospitalization fund. Agreeing to pay Fremont-based Damschroder Roofing $74,512 for a new Duro-Last Roof System for the Huron County Administration Building. Holding informal budget discussion looking at next year's budget. Commissioners said a draft of the budget document they are working on will be available at their meeting on Thursday.
