AAA to honor Northeast Ohio police for traffic safety efforts

INDEPENDENCE — More than two dozen Northeast Ohio police departments will be awarded AAA's prestigious Platinum Community Traffic Safety Award for their safety efforts. Nearly 30 additional departments will receive gold awards, silver awards, and bronze awards. Among the winners are the Ohio State Highway Patrol Norwalk Post, Plymouth Police Dept. and the Huron County Sheriff's Office. WHO: AAA East Central and the following police departments: Amherst, Avon, Avon Lake, Boardman, Canfield, Chardon, Cleveland Police Districts 1-5, Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office, Elyria, Euclid, Gates Mills, Geauga County Sheriff's Office, Highland Heights, Hiram, Hunting Valley, Huron County Sheriff's Office, Independence, Kirtland, Kirtland Hills, Lorain County Sheriff's Office, Lyndhurst, Mahoning County Sheriff's Office, Maple Heights, Mentor, Middlefield, Moreland Hills, Niles, North Royalton, North Eastern Ohio Medical University, Orange Village, Parma Heights, Plymouth, Portage County Sheriff's Office, Richmond Heights, Russell Township, Shaker Heights, South Russell, Strongsville, Trumbull County Sheriff's Office, University Heights, Warren, Wickliffe and Youngstown. Also, Ohio State Highway Patrol Posts in Ashland, Canfield, Chardon, Cleveland, Elyria, Hiram, Norwalk, Ravenna and Warren.
