Almost $28,000 donated to local groups

NORWALK — The Huron County Community Foundation awarded $27,837 in charitable community grants to several Huron County non-profits, churches and schools at its September board of directors meeting. Projects awarded fill critical needs, create opportunities for youth, and further contribute to a thriving community. The Huron County Community Foundation Board of Directors identified priorities around the youth of the community, whether that be the food that nourishes them and their families or offering art and cultural experiences to expand their world view. Organizations and Projects Awarded in the 2023 Round 2 Grants Cycle: • Abigail Pregnancy Services, Baby Basics and Beyond Parenting Program — $3,272 • Art@106: Bellevue Artist Guild, Installation of Security System — $200 • Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio, Feeding New London Kids After School and Summers — $2,500 • Firelands Habitat for Humanity, New Dumping Hopper for ReStore Forklift — $1,500 • Firelands Historical Society, Firelands Museum Accessibility for All: ADA Compliant Access Ramp — $3,980 • Friends of the Norwalk Public Library, Promoting Literacy and Physical Activity to Huron County through the StoryWalk at Sofios Park (American Timber & Steel Fund) — $1,500 • Huron County Humane Society, Creating an Education Station for Staff — $1,438 • Norwalk Arts Center, Scholarship Fund, Junior Musical, Teen Theater — $1,500 • Peds on Wheels, Increase Childhood Vaccine Rates for Children of Norwalk, Monroeville, and Bellevue — $3,000 • Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, Willard Food Distribution — $4,000 • St Joseph Catholic School, "Break Out Kits" — $1,070 • Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity's Table Free Drive-up Community Meal — $2,500 • Willard Area Historical Society, Inc., Willard Historical Museum Improvement Project — $1,377 Grant cycles occur twice a year, with applications due Feb. 15 and Aug. 15 annually.
