Plymouth, S.C. and Willard fall

OLIVESBURG — Crestview sophomore running back Ayden Reymer ran for 195 yards and four touchdowns on just nine attempts in a 56-7 win over Plymouth on Friday in a Firelands Conference game at Scott Bailey Field. The short-handed Big Red — out several key starters because of injuries — fell to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the FC with the loss. After Reymer opened the scoring at the 6:37 mark of the first quarter with a 22-yard touchdown, Plymouth struck back immediately. Quarterback Lincoln Distl found standout running back Layne Bushey across the middle for a 76-yard TD pass-and-catch — just 18 seconds after the Cougars' TD. The extra point tied the game at 7-7 at the 6:19 mark of the first, but it was all Crestview from there as it scored seven unanswered touchdowns in the rout. Bushey also ran 16 times for 85 yards in the loss. Distl ran five times for 38 yards. Things get no easier for Plymouth next week as it visits Lucas (4-3) in a non-league game. Central 6 ORANGE TWP. — Mapleton quarterback ran for three touchdowns and threw for a fourth score as the Mounties piled up the points early before tragedy struck. Prior to the game, a Mapleton senior homecoming attendant collapsed and was taken by medical personnel to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Both school districts and head coaches agreed to suspend play in the second half. South Central fell to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the FC. The Trojans host Western Reserve (5-2, 2-2) next week. Hopewell-Loudon 72, Willard 33 WILLARD — The Crimson Flashes were in a one-possession game at halftime of Friday's SBC River Division game against the state-ranked Cheiftains, but it all fell apart in the second half. Trailing 32-26 at halftime, the Flashes (4-3, 2-2) were outscored 40-7 in the second half in the loss to the Division VII No. 5-ranked Chieftains. Willard will look to snap a two-game skid when it visits Gibsonburg (3-4, 2-2) next Friday.
