Reading Under the Lights 2023 Sept. 26

NORWALK — "Ahoy Me Hearties!" A very special Pirate-themed edition of Reading Under the Lights 2023 is set for Sept. 26. This celebration of reading has become a favorite annual tradition for Norwalk "Truck-aneers" of all ages. This swashbuckling soiree truly promotes the love of reading through the Norwalk City School District. The event will be held from 6:15 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26. Students and their families, grades Pre-K through 6, are encouraged to participate in all the Jolly (Roger) Excitement while walking the plank into various literary stations that have dropped anchor upon Contractor Stadium (See Treasure Map). Each school has selected a bounty of pirate-themed activities that encourage and bring joy to reading. Books and materials have been supplied through the Title 1 funds provided through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as amended through Every Student Succeeds Act. Reading T-shirts have been provided by a treasure chest-like donation from Vacationland Federal Credit Union.
