Local Master Gardeners recently had a speaker whose greenhouse business was mostly propagating miniature plants for hobbyists with model trains, doll house lovers who wished to make in scale landscapes for their doll houses and Fairy Garden gardeners. Perfection Greenhouse, LLC, at 8575 South Township Road 189 in New Washington, does just that. The business propagates and raises hundreds of miniature plants for big green houses to supply all the neat hobbyists in the country. Back when Fairy Gardens became popular, Mulberry Creek Herb Farm in northern Ohio started raising miniature plants and selling them by catalog all over the country. When Mark and Karen Langdon sold the franchise for Mulberry Miniatures to the owners of Perfection Greenhouse, miniature plants were hot! Today, 3,200 plants a month are needed to keep everything offered online on hand. Propagation of the small ones is a constant job at Perfection. When they got the franchise, Perfection built 5 new greenhouses to keep up. Six different brokers in five states handle orders. Besides the miniatures, Perfection sells annuals, vegetable plants, perennials and custom made planters. They also greet the fall with more than 4,800 hardy garden mums to choose from.
