Norwalk XC teams compete at NOL reunion meet

WILLARD — The Norwalk High School cross country teams competed in the Northern Ohio League reunion quad meet on Tuesday at Willard. The two-mile race saw the Trucker boys and girls finish in second place behind Shelby, but ahead of Bellevue and host Willard. Shelby scored 23 points tow in the girls race. The Truckers were next with 35, followed by Willard (80) and Bellevue (91). Isabel Ott was Norwalk's top finisher for the girls, as her time of 13:40 was good for third. Maddison Trenor (13:45) was fourth, followed by Zuri Immel (13:53) in sixth and Grace Norris (14:04) in 10th. Rounding out Norwalk's top seven was Kayli Bergman (14:26) in 12th; Allison Konik (15:45) in 18th; and Serenity Lyons (16:05) in 20th. The Whippets scored 21 points to win the boys race. Norwalk (54), Bellevue (64) and Willard (87) were next. Alex Christophel led the boys in 11:23, which was good for fourth place. Casey Kromer was three seconds behind (11:26) to take fifth, while Max Bores (11:49) was 10th. Rounding out the Norwalk boys top seven was William Cloud (12:26) in 16th; Landen Knoll (12:42) in 19th; Michael Lucas (12:59) in 24th; and Adam Slate (13:10) in 28th. "It was very exciting to see Isabel and Alex step up and lead the teams," Norwalk head coach Stephanie Pope said. "Both runners have been putting in the work, and it is paying off." Norwalk is back in action on Saturday at the Ashland Invitational. BOYS GOLF Crestview 166, St. Paul 183 NORWALK — The Flyers fell to 2-3 in Firelands Conference play following Tuesday's home loss to the Cougars at Eagle Creek. Nolan McCall led St. Paul with a 43, while Owen Romell and Fletcher Ross each shot 45s. Gavin Thurston's 50 rounded out the scoring, while Dan Schwan (52) and Aiden Stang (55) rounded out the St. Paul lineup.
