Pioneer Days Sept. 9 and 10 at Lyme Village

BELLEVUE — Pioneer Days at historic Lyme Village in Bellevue will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10. The village is comprised of three log houses, a one-room schoolhouse, a log church, blacksmith shop, an 1836 farmhouse used as part of the underground railroad, a military museum, hardware store, woodworking shop, barns, and the 1882 John Wright Mansion. The weekend begins on Friday, Sept. 8, when 600 fourth-graders will be educated by 70 presenters covering a wide variety of topics dealing with pioneer living and the history of our country. Admission for the public on Saturday and Sunday is: Adults $12; Senior Citizens $11; Children ages 6-12 $6; and ages 5 and under free. Admission includes entertainment, music by the Moorhens and Christian Cloggers, tours of the John Wright Mansion, demonstrations and the flea market. Reenactors from the Civil War will be firing their cannons on the hour beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln will be available to the public on Saturday only. The café in the Carriage House will be serving exceptional food and drink throughout both days. Historic Lyme Village is staffed totally by dedicated volunteers whose mission is to educate the public by presenting living history in an environment that closely resembles the time period being portrayed.
