Wilson, Carroll fair royalty for 2023

NORWALK — The Pickworth Pavilion in the fairgrounds was the site of the 2023 Huron County Junior Fair Royalty Contest Tuesday evening where Reaganne Wilson was named queen and Gage Carroll king. The candidates had already gone through several steps to qualify for the contest, and during the evening each was asked by emcee Harry Brady to answer a prepared question, as well as one chosen at random. Once the dust had settled, Reaganne said she was very excited to be chosen queen and is looking forward to representing the fair and 4-H at other fairs, festivals and events during the coming year. A graduate of Margaretta High School, Reaganne was a cheerleader, part of the dance team and a wrestling mat maid. She belonged to the FFA and is a member of the Huron County Junior Dairy 4-H Club. She is studying radiology at BGSU Firelands, and in her spare time runs Reaganne Wilson Photography. Gage will be a senior at New London High School where he participates in baseball and basketball. He belongs to the Classy Clovers 4-H Club, and he also enjoys playing horseshoes. He would like to study athletic coordination at the University of Hawaii, and like Reaganne, is looking forward to representing the fair and 4-H in the year ahead. First attendant to the queen is Lydia McQuillen, a senior at Edison High School and member of the Ridgefield Country Kids 4-H. Her plans are to study to be a high school teacher. Anita Ruggles and Makena Calame are the members of the queen's court. Anita, the 2022 first attendant to the queen, graduated from Monroeville High School and EHOVE and is a member of the Ridgefield Country Kids 4-H. She will attend The Ohio State ATI in the fall. Makena attends South Central High School and belongs to FFA and the Tri-Community Bits & Pieces 4-H. Don Sweeting was the auctioneer for the traditional pie auction sponsored by the Community Minded Fair Supporters Committee. The 29 pies brought bids adding up to $3,810, which will be used for fair and fairground improvements. Last year's queen Madilyn Lawson and attendant Grace Montgomery gave farewell addresses to the audience and assisted with the program. The entertainment was provided by Dwyane Hoff. Special guests were royalty from other fairs and festivals.
