Norwalk places 10th in 20-team P.C. Classic

PORT CLINTON — The Norwalk boys golf team finished 10th in the 20-team field at the Port Clinton Golf Classic on Monday. The Truckers shot a 368 and were led by Stephan Lukac with a 90. He was closely followed by Tanner Harp (92), Avery Scheel (93) and Ethan Brown (93). Willard was 12th after totaling a 373 as a team. Max Dawson paced the Crimson Flashes with an 87, which was good for 23rd among 99 golfers who scored. Also for the Flashes, Mason Dawson shot a 95, followed by Elijah Reed (104) and Ethan Rodriguez (113). New London placed 15th with a 391, thanks in large part to a strong showing by No. 1 golfer Brody Sword. He finished with an 81, which was good for eighth overall among the field. Also for the Wildcats, Grady Heileman shot a 97. He was followed by Tate Landis (106) and Kade Detterman (106), while Presley Ferguson shot a 114. St. Paul totaled a 412 to place 17th. Dan Schwan led the Flyers with a 97, followed by Owen Romell and Noah Sumpter with 100s, and Tom Gocsik had a 115. Shaker Heights won the tournament with a 320. Van Buren also shot a 320 and initially was announced as the champion. It was then determined that Shaker Heights won on a tiebreaker. Its fifth player shot an 84 and Van Buren's carded a 98. Shaker Heights and Van Buren finished 1-2 for the second straight year. Van Buren won in 2021. From the SBC Lake Division, Bellevue finished fifth among the 20 teams with a 358. Upper Sandusky's Brock Montgomery shot a 2-under 70 to take individual medalist honors.
