Huron County Fair right around the corner

NORWALK — The countdown is on to the 102nd annual Huron County Fair. The fair runs Aug. 14 to 19, capped off with the annual demolition derby. Grandstand events this year are: • Monday — Pig Scramble. • Tuesday — NTPA Truck and Tractor Pull • Wednesday — A Bar Rodeo • Thursday — Motocross • Friday — Rough Truck • Saturday — Demolition Derby Gate admission is $10 per person, which includes rides and grandstand (except Tuesday). Children under 36 inches tall are free, which does not include rides. Admission Tuesday is free until 3 p.m., which does not include rides. Wednesday is Veterans Day and all veterans will be admitted for one penny. Thursday is Senior Citizens Day and all seniors will be admitted for one penny. You can get $1 off admission on Friday with the donation of a non-expired, non-perishable food item. All donations go to the Salvation Army. General admission to grandstand events are free, but there is a $10 charge for box and track/pit seats for all grandstand events excluding the pig scramble. Among the highlights from the junior fair are: • Sunday, 5:30 p.m. — Horse Fair Kick-Off & Special Equine Awards Presentation (Weisenberger Arena). • Monday, 6 p.m. — Style Preview (Pickworth Pavilion). • Tuesday 6 p.m. — Junior Fair King & Queen (Pickworth Pavilion); 8 p.m. — Junior Fair Square Dance (Pickworth Pavilion). • Thursday, 5:30 p.m. — Small Livestock Sale Grand & Reserve Champion pictures (Pickworth Pavilion); 6 p.m. — Small Livestock Sale. • Friday, 4 p.m. — Large Livestock Sale Grand & Reserve Champion pictures (Pickworth Pavilion). • Saturday, 9 a.m. — Large Livestock Sale (Pickworth Pavilion); 5 p.m. — Showman of Showmen Contest (Doug Wilson Barn).
