Summer reading continues at the Huron County Community Library until July 15

WILLARD — Summer Reading is continuing at the Huron County Community Library until July 15. Each of our library locations have plenty more events and activities planned for everyone. At our Willard Memorial Library location, on Thursday, July 6 at 3 p.m., teens can come in and create a "Take Home Terrarium". Let's make ice cream on Thursday, July 13 at 3 p.m. and Teens, you'll get to eat it too. The Teen Programming is intended for ages 11-18. Summer Reading Storytime will be held Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. The theme for July 5 & 6 is "Friends Forever" and for July 12 & 13 the theme is "Down on the Farm with Farmyard Fun". Adopt a Pet Pal at the Art Show on Saturday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to noon. View our Collaborative Art Show and adopt a toy Pet Pal. Join us kids, in the Community Room on Wednesday July 5 at 2 p.m. As part of our "Farm Friends Week", we'll be reading "Moo" by David LaRochelle and then play a game, watch some "cow" music videos, and more. Thursday, July 6 at 1 p.m. it is all about "Charlotte's Web". Come to the Community Room, kids, for a short read and create our own parachutes for Charlotte's spiderlings to use to fly. We will test how well they fly in the library. We will also be looking at how to make spider webs using clothes baskets and also explore how to make butter. Come visit us at the Festival in the Park on Friday, July 7. Sillie Tillie will once again share her amazing balloon creations. Get your own free balloon creation between 5 and 7 p.m. Play "Beengo" with us on Tuesday, July 11 at 1 p.m. in the Community Room. Win Small prizes and treats. Let's build together Thursday, July 13 at 1 p.m. in the Community Room. See what you can make with popsicle sticks, index cards, and binder clips. Kids join us at the Willard City Park on Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m. to celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Program. Follow a storybook trail and collect some prizes along the way, paint a kindness rock, and dance with "The Bee"! Tech Thursdays with Jarred continues in July at our Willard location. Every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. you can drop in with your computer questions. The Dulcimer 101 workshops with Johanna Beebe will be held on Wednesdays July 12 & 26 at 11 a.m. in the Community Room. Adults join us for Pinterest Monday July 17 at 6 p.m. in the Willard Annex. Come and create fun Nautical Hanging Luminaries. Thursday, July 13 at 10 a.m. is craft day at the Enrichment Center here in Willard. Join us at the Center to create a Patriotic Wall Hanging. "Monday Reads" will get together on July 10 at 10 a.m. in the Willard Community Room to discuss the book "Blood Sugar" by Sascha Rothchild. Willard's evening Book Club, "Turn the Page Book Discussion" will meet Thursday, July 27 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room. The group will share their thoughts on "Wrong Place, Wrong Time" by Gillian McAllister. "Cook Up a Storm" Cookbook Club (in Willard) will not be meeting until the Fall. WAKEMAN School kids can come every week to make a special project X2 at our Wakeman Library. Make and Share takes place on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. On July 5 and July 12, make one and share one with a Community Organization. Summer Storytime at Wakeman will be held on July 7 and 14 at 10:30 a.m. The theme is "Growing Kind Communities". Another community project at our Wakeman location is an intergenerational project. This project is sponsored by the Wakeman Eagles Redcap Charity Fund. Join us to make two stepping stones on Thursday, July 6 at 3 p.m. One stone you keep and the other you share with the Community Garden. Registration is required so call 440-839-2976. Pinterest Monday is scheduled at the Wakeman Library for Monday, July 24 at 5:30 p.m. Adults join us to create fun Nautical Hanging Luminaries. Bring your own blanket or chairs to the Wakeman Community Park Gazebo on Tuesday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m. to experience the "Realm of the Reptile". Marissa and Andrew enrich peoples' lives by interacting with snakes and other reptilian creatures. With backgrounds in eiology and theater, they entertain as well as educate all ages. "Who Picked This Book?" Wakeman's Book Club will meet Monday, July 17 at 5:30 p.m. to talk about "Signal Fire" by Dani Shapiro. Copies of the book are available at the Wakeman circulation desk. Take advantage of "Storybook Trail" at the Dalton Park Nature Preserve, 5171 Ohio 303 in Wakeman. The trail is available anytime during regular park hours. The title for July is "All of Us" by Kathryn Erskine. GREENWICH Come to our Greenwich Library for a "Whiz-Bang Science Show" on Thursday, July 13 at 11 a.m. Dr. Dave is back again with an awesome science extravaganza. Join us across the street from the Library and marvel at Dr. Dave's feats of science and maybe even an explosion or two. In case of inclement weather, this show will be held inside the library. Our next Summer Reading Day at Greenwich will be Thursday, July 6 at 11 a.m. Everybody is invited to the Library for an hour or so of stories, crafts, and games. All ages can stop by our Greenwich location and pick up a "Take and Make". Each week will feature a new craft or activity that you can do at home. Pinterest Monday is July 10 at 5:30 p.m. at our Greenwich location. Adults! Join us to create a fun nautical hanging luminary. Just when you thought Summer Reading was over it is time for "Dinosaur Dimensions". The Greenwich Library is excited to present realistic animatronic puppet dinosaurs. This interactive, family oriented program lasts 40-45 min. and will be held in the grassy area across from the library building. There will be time afterwards to meet one of the dinosaurs in person. In case of stormy weather the show will move into the library. The Storybook Trail continues at the Park until July 15. NORTH FAIRFIELD Our North Fairfield Library Storytime is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12 at 11 a.m. Join Carolyn for stories and fun. Drop by and create a craft at the North Fairfield Library. Materials and instructions will be provided by the library. Adult Craft Day will be held at our North Fairfield location July 10 at 11 a.m. thru 4 p.m. Come and join us and experience an awesome interactive animal show! Nora the Explorer will be at the North Fairfield Gazebo on Friday, July 14 at 2 p.m. In case of poor weather the program will be held indoors. Storybook Trail at the North Fairfield Park will continue until July 15. *** There will be a "free" online safety for caregivers' workshop at our Wakeman, Greenwich and Willard locations. Ohio Connectivity Champion, Kayla Cicola, will be visiting our locations to talk about device readiness, online privacy and safety, and social media readiness. This is the perfect place to connect with other caregivers about raising children in a digital age. A special activity for Kids Prek-6th grade will be provided during the session. Wakeman's session will be held on Thursday, July 20 at 6 p.m., Greenwich's session on Wednesday July 24 at 6 p.m. and Willard's session on Monday, July 31 at 6 p.m. If you have anything specific you'd like to see addressed in this session please contact your HCCL location by July 14.
