Edison's Anderson returns to state

LEXINGTON — Edison sophomore Grace Anderson is returning to the Division II state championship meet. Anderson finished the two-mile (320 meters) run in 11:47.28, good for second place in the field, on Saturday at the regional championship meet in Lexington. The top four placers in each event qualified for the state championship meet, set for Friday and Saturday (June 2-3) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. Anderson was an All-Ohioan in cross country (17th) and track and field (eighth) as a freshman last year. She was 13th at the state cross country meet this season in early November, and now seeks another podium finish at state. Anderson will run at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday at the state meet on the campus of Ohio State University. Also Saturday at the regional, Edison junior Trayvon Williams — the regional champion in the long jump — placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 100 and 200 dashes. Williams finished in 11.07 seconds in the 100, where 10.97 seconds was the final guaranteed time to advance. However, his time was good enough for an at-large spot to also advance to the state championships in the event. Williams' time of 22.30 was .33 seconds off the final qualifying time in the 200.
