Four Norwalk students recognized

The Norwalk Rotary Club recognized four area students Monday. The bios were provided by the Rotary. Recognized were: Summer Moehlman This year's female Rotary Citizen Athlete has been active in many student activities at Norwalk High School. Summer has been involved in Teen Leadership Corps., is the president of the National Honor Society, the senior class president, is a member of the Student Athlete Leadership Team, and played the clarinet in the Blue Pride Marching Band all four years of high school. Summer has also excelled in the classroom. She has been on the Principal's List all four years and has received four academic letters. She is the salutatorian, ranked 2nd in the senior class with a 4.23 GPA. Summer has been very active in the sports programs during her four years at Norwalk High School. She has been a member of the soccer, basketball, and track teams where she has earned 10 letters. She is a four-year letter winner in soccer, a three-year letter winner and two-year team captain in basketball. On the hardwood, she played a major role in helping the girls' basketball team to the best record in school history and their first ever trip to the regional finals. Summer was also a three-year letter winner in track where she qualified for the Division I regional track meet. Summer will continue her education and play basketball at Tiffin University and will major in neuroscience. The daughter of Dave and Karen Moehlman. Sydney Endsley This year's female award winner has been very involved in many student activities at St. Paul High School. She is an outstanding young lady that is driven to excellence in academics and school activities. She has been very involved in school activities where she has served as a student ambassador and was elected to the National Honor Society. In addition, she was in the marching band, concert band, jazz band, pep band, team captain of the Academic Challenge team, a member of Folk Group, the spring musical, mock trial, Model UN, drug-free clubs of America, and March For Life. She was elected class president three times and homecoming attendant twice. She is a leader in our school regarding academics, athletics, and service to others. While participating in all these activities she has maintained a 4.259 grade point average and is ranked 3d in her class. She has also been very active in the sports programs during her four years at St. Paul High School where she earned six varsity letters. She is a three-year letterman in cross country and track. She was team captain of the cross country team this fall. She is currently one of our top runners on our track team this spring. She has earned All Academic First Team Firelands Conference all four years in high school in every season. She will attend the Ohio State University this fall where she will major in environmental science and geology. She is the daughter of Scott and Jaime Endsley. Bryan Sommers This year's male Rotary Citizen Athlete has also been active in many student activities at Norwalk High School. Bryan has been involved in Teen Leadership Corps, National Honor Society, Student Council, and is a member of the Student-Athlete Leadership Team, Young Life, and Impact Leadership. While being involved in a wide range of school activities he still made time to attend to his academics and has earned four academic letters, been on the honor roll all four years and has a 3.82 grade point average. Bryan has been very active in the sports programs at Norwalk High School during the past four years. He has had a stellar tennis career at NHS, where he is a four-year letter winner, a district qualifier, and has been named team MVP. Bryan also has lettered in golf and soccer. Bryan will continue his education at The Ohio State University and will major in business/finance. The son of Norm and Tracy Sommers. Nick Centa This year's male award winner has been involved in many student activities at St. Paul High School. He is an outstanding young man who has been driven to excellence in the classroom, school activities, and athletics. He is active in our church serving as a Euchartistic Minister, Kairos Team, and an Altar Server. He has been involved in other school activities including marching band, concert band, pep band, and jazz band. He also has been involved with the spring musical, folk group, march for life, mock trial, Model UN, student ambassador, drug free clubs of America, Robotics Team, and Academic Challenge. He has served as class vice president in his freshman and junior years. He is also a two year member of the National Honor Society. He is a leader in our school in regards to academics, athletics and service to others. While participating in these many activities, he has maintained a 4.3 GPA and ranks 1st in his class. He has also been very active in athletics during his four years at St. Paul High School earning eleven varsity letters while participating in cross country and track, and a three-year letterman in swimming. Nick excelled on our cross-country team where he advanced to the state meet in his junior and senior years. He earned 1st team all-academic all-Firelands Conference in both cross country and track. He will attend Ohio State University next year where he will major in Mechanical Engineering. He is the son of Joe and Cheri Centa.
