Edison softball rallies past St. Paul

NORWALK — The Edison softball team scored five runs in the top of seventh inning to rally past host St. Paul for a 12-10 victory on Wednesday in a non-league game at Norwalk Area Contractors Park. The Chargers had an early 6-1 lead, only to see the host Flyers (1-2) score nine of the next 10 runs to build a 10-7 lead through six innings. For Edison, Kalli Quillen was 4 for 5 with two doubles and four RBIs. Audrey Linder was 4 for 4 with an RBI and four runs scored. Gracie Rang was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Sophia Guerra singled and drove in two, while Peyton Taylor and Maddox McConnel each singled with an RBI. Elena McCord added two hits for the Chargers. Guerra went the last five innings for Edison. She allowed five runs (one earned) on three hits with five strikeouts. St. Paul was paced by Taegan Mansfield-Bush, who was 2 for 5 with a triple and three RBIs. Elaina Herrig had two hits and scored a run, while Klaire Hickey hit a solo home run, and Bella Guerra singled and had two RBIs. The Flyers are scheduled to visit Tiffin Calvert on Thursday, while Edison hosts Clyde. Monroeville 8, Willard 2 MONROEVILLE — The Eagles improved to 4-0 on the season by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings in Wednesday's non-league win over the Crimson Flashes at Clark Park. Madison Reiber doubled and drove in two runs for Monroeville, while Taryn Tyler and Avery Rosser each finished with two hits and an RBI. Emily Scheid and Rachel Fries each singled and drove in a run. In the circle, Camryn Hurst went the first four innings and did not allow a run. She gave up one hit and had four strikeouts and no walks. Scheid went the final three innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits with six strikeouts and a walk. For Willard (0-2), Makinley Schaffer singled and drove in a run. Thompson pitched the first three innings and allowed one earned run on two hits. He struck out three and walked one. I. McClanahan pitched the last two innings and allowed one run on three hits and also struck out three and walked one. For Monroeville (0-2), Landin Hershiser was 2 for 2 and scored one of the two runs.
