Lamoreaux, Rowland share FC Player of the Year honors

Juniors Grace Lamoreaux (South Central) and Emilee Rowland (New London) shared the top honor in the Firelands Conference, it was announced on Monday. The pair shared the Player of the Year honors in the league after big seasons for the Trojans and Wildcats. Lamoreaux averaged 10.6 points, nine rebounds, 4.1 assists and 4.8 steals per game this season for the Trojans, who finished 11-13 overall and won a Division IV sectional championship. Lamoreaux was fifth in the FC in scoring, and led the conference in rebounds, assists and steals. Rowland helped New London author one of the biggest single-season turnarounds in FC history. She averaged 11.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as the Wildcats went from 1-21 last season to 17-7 — including two FC losses by a combined six points — this season. Both players were joined on the first team by four other area players. Western Reserve senior Lilli White helped her team to the outright FC championship this winter. She averaged 8.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Roughriders (16-6), who won their 17th conference title with a perfect 14-0 record. Also on the first team was South Central junior Kendyl Beverly. She led the Firelands Conference in scoring at 16 points per game. Rounding out area players on the first team included St. Paul senior Molly Ridge (12.1 points, 2.9 rebounds) and Plymouth junior Jaylin Branham (11.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists). Area players on the second team included Western Reserve seniors Madison Pfanner and Anna Woodrum; South Central junior Angela Williams; Monroeville sophomore Grace Stieber; and New London junior Alyssa Henry.
