Charter Review Commission members named

Norwalk City Council has selected seven city residents to serve on the Charter Review Commission. Selected were: Makenna Laser Maryellen Hamernik Sue Lesch Howard Wilde Kevin Cardone Daivia Kasper Steve Gfell Several of those who were selected told Norwalk City Council they wanted to be of service to the community. Kasper, an attorney who has lived in Norwalk for 20 years, told Norwalk City Council she felt like she could be helpful to the commission. "I've been a resident of the city for over 20 years, I am an attorney so I have some understanding and background with government and law," she said. Cardone, a project manager, has lived in Norwalk since 2019. "Professionally, I'm a project manager so I'm pretty good at taking a problem and carving it into digestable pieces," Cardone said. "I've been here since 2019 so if you want the perspective of somebody that hasn't always been here and grown up here, I could provide that." Hamernik, a lifelong Norwalk resident and former city council clerk, said she has a "working knowledge" of city ordinances and the city's charter. . "I would look forward to reviewing these for suggestions for improvement and planning for the future and submitting those suggestions to city council," she said. Lesch is the former mayor of Norwalk. Interested candidates were asked to submit a brief statement of interest and Norwalk City Council made the final selections.
