Norwalk students will get extended spring break next year

NORWALK — Students in Norwalk and around Huron County will get a day off on April 8, 2024 — when this area will be ground zero for a total eclipse of the sun. That will extend the spring break for Norwalk City and Catholic school students. Spring break will begin on Good Friday, March 29, and will extend to Tuesday, April 9 — seven total school days. The duration of totality of the eclipse will be up to 4 minutes and 27 seconds, almost double that of The Great American Eclipse of Aug. 21, 2017. The 2017 total solar eclipse was witnessed by about 20 million people from Oregon to South Carolina, and the upcoming 2024 Great North American Eclipse is sure to be witnessed by many millions more. Because of what many saw — the popularity is expected to soar for next year's eclipse, with — many millions more wanting to see solar eclipse. In the U.S., totality will begin in Texas at 2:27 p.m. EDT and will end in Maine at 3:35 p.m. EDT. The exact center of the path is expected to hit near the Monroeville area. The duration of totality will be 1:54 p.m. in Toledo, 3:50 p.m. in Cleveland and 3:53 p.m. in Norwalk. The partial eclipse will last about 30 minutes. The total eclipse in Toledo will begin at 3:12 p.m. and one minute later in Cleveland.
