Decorated champion Nash to be inducted into the NHS wrestling HOF

NORWALK — Decorated champion Charlie Nash will be inducted into the Norwalk High School wrestling program's Hall of Fame Wednesday night. The Truckers host Bellevue and Oak Harbor in Sandusky Bay Conference action beginning at 6 p.m. Nash will be inducted prior to the matches. A 2016 NHS graduate, Nash won 147 matches in his wrestling career for the Truckers. He was a three-time Northern Ohio League champion, a two-time Northwest District champion (Division II), and a three-time state placer. Nash finished fourth, sixth and eighth, respectively, in his three All-Ohio finishes at state championships held at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus. After high school, Nash wrestled collegiately at NCAA Div. III Baldwin Wallace University. His success continued, as Nash was a three-time qualifier for the NCAA championships. In 2019, Nash earned All-American honors by placing fourth at 133 pounds at the NCAA championships. He finished that season with a 29-11 record. The four-time Academic All-American was the No. 1-ranked wrestler with a 30-7 record entering his final NCAA championships in 2020 when the tournament was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Because the tournament was canceled, after the season, Nash was named to the All-American second team by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. With 112 career wins, Nash ranks sixth all-time in BW history.
