Young artists work on another community project

NORWALK — Artists in the Making (AIM) — Norwalk Arts Center's program for fifth through eighth graders — unveiled its latest community art project at their last meeting. AIM meets after school on one Friday each month during the school year at Sheri's Coffee House in uptown Norwalk. Students met on Veterans Day in November to decorate three-inch canvases in red, blue or gray. NAC volunteers then framed the tiles in a flag pattern and students presented it to Ross Matlack, superintendent of Ohio Veterans' Home in Sandusky, at their December meeting last Friday. For their December session, students made button Christmas trees to take home. AIM, provided at no cost to students, is funded through grants from Huron County Community Foundation and Geotrac Foundation. The next AIM art session will be from 3 to 4:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13 at Sheri's.
