Plymouth earns AAA platinum award

PLYMOUTH — AAA East Central recently honored northeast Ohio police departments for their outstanding efforts to increase road safety for all motorists. Fourteen Northeast Ohio departments received Platinum Awards, including Plymouth, while an additional 17 departments were honored with Gold, Silver or Bronze awards. "We are honored to recognize these local departments for their efforts in the Community Traffic Safety Program," said Lori Cook, safety adviser, AAA East Central. "Each organization has gone above and beyond their call of duty to make their community a safer place for motorists and residents." The Platinum awards were given to "Commendable Leaders" for their safety efforts and enforcement activities geared towards making communities safer. Plymouth Police Department was the recipient of this prestigious award, as well as the following police departments: Avon Lake, Elyria, Euclid, Gate MIlls, Geauga County Sheriff's Office, Highland Heights, Hiram, Kirtland, Kirtland Hills, Menor, Moreland Hills, Parma Heights and South Russell. The awards ceremony was held at the Embassy Suites Cleveland-Rockside in Independence. The Plymouth Police Department conducted several safety programs that focused on child passenger safety, distracted driving, teen drivers, bicycle safety (helmet smart program), school and school bus safety programs — to name a few. Statistical evidence performance was demonstrated by showing graphs of various traffic safety performances.
