Burglar sent to prison

A convicted burglar and drug defendant was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison Tuesday.Curtis D. Newsome Jr., 31, formerly of 622 W. Pearl St., Willard, pleaded guilty during the same Huron County Common Pleas Court hearing to one count of burglary and three charges of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility.In exchange, prosecutors dismissed 10 felonies: Three counts of complicity in the commission of an offense, four charges of conspiracy and one count each of theft from a person in a protected class, receiving stolen property and illegal conveyance.Judge Jim Conway then sentenced Newsome to 54 months in prison.In a separate case, Joshua A. Kleinhenz, 19, formerly of 29 Aster Court, New London, was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison. His convictions are one count each of unlawful sexual contact with a minor and failure to register. Classified as a Tier I sex offender, Kleinhenz must register his address annually for 15 years. As part of a plea deal in late July, prosecutors dismissed two counts of failure to register and one charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Kleinhenz has been in the Huron County Jail since June 3.And in other hearings:• Victoria M. Coombs, 25, of Akron, was sentenced Wednesday to pay $2,135 in restitution. Her convictions are two charges of receiving stolen property and one count of passing bad checks. During her three years of probation, Combs has 90 days of discretionary jail time hanging over her head; her probation officer has the option of when to impose part or all of the sentence without a hearing.• John N. Dendinger Jr., 43, most recently of 63 N. Foster St., Apt. B, pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted tampering with evidence in exchange for the dismissal of possessing criminal tools. He remains out on a $10,000 bond with a 10-percent provision. His sentencing is set for Nov. 28.• Mitchell T. Loflin, 20, formerly of Norwalk, had his treatment in lieu of conviction revoked Wednesday. That means the judge imposed a previous guilty for possession of cocaine because Loflin violated the terms of his probation. He was sentenced to spend four to six months in a community-based corrections facility, a form of prison which focuses on substance abuse treatment and education.• Jeffrey A. Signs, 47, of Castalia, was fined $500 Thursday and ordered to reimburse Norwalk police $500 for the cost of drug testing. He also faces a a 90-day discretionary jail sentence during his three years of probation. Signs' conviction is possession of drugs.• Carlos L. Withrow Jr., 45, most recently of 59 Glover Ave., pleaded guilty Tuesday to two charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs and one count of trafficking in heroin. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dismissed two counts of trafficking in heroin and one charge each of aggravated trafficking in drugs and trafficking in counterfeit controlled substances. The Norwalk Police Department transported Withrow to jail July 12 and he has been unable to post a $10,000 bond. His sentencing hearing is Nov. 28.• Brett T. Ziemke, 28, most recently of 5780 Ohio 18, Wakeman, was fined $5,000 Thursday for one count each of theft and aggravated trafficking in drugs. During his three years of probation, he has a 90-day discretionary jail sentence hanging over his head. Coombs Dendinger Loflin WithrowZiemke
