NMS boys first, girls second at SBCs

TIFFIN — The Norwalk Middle School boys cross country program won its second straight SBC Lake Division championship on Oct. 16 at Hedges-Boyer Park in Tiffin. The Truckers scored 42 points, edging out host Columbian (45) and Bellevue (49). Kingston Gonzales paced the NMS boys in third overall in 11:40.2 and Caiden Schmidt (12:17.7) was sixth. Nolan Jones (12:44.2) was 10th, followed by Adam Slate (12:53.2) in 13th and Roman Snyder (13:03.2) in 15th. Also for Norwalk, Jason Cruz (13:19.8) was 22nd, Xavier Saunders (13:29.5) was 26th,Logan Corbin (14:12.3) was 33rd, Jeremiah McCrerry (14:26.7) was 34th and Aiden Mock (14:29.4) was 35th. Rounding out the lineup for the boys team was Beau Riley (15:18) in 41st, Caleb Thompson (15:19.1) in 42nd, Kadden Gede (15:40.8) in 43rd and Connor Lucas (15:55) in 45th. In the Lake girls race, Norwalk scored 40 points to finish second. Grace Norris led the Truckers by placing second overall in 12:44.4. Adyson Lepley was ninth in 14:00, while Allison Konik (14:46.2) was 12th. Kylah Daniels (15:00.6) was 16th for NMS, followed by Anna Whaley (15:10.6) in 17th, Lily Ware (16:00.8) in 20th, Gretchen Willer (16:08.8) in 21st, Kaitlyn Bogner (16:54) in 24th, Skyler Ervin (17:15) in 26th and Ivy Nardecchia (17:18.9) in 27th. In the Bay Division boys race, Edison won with 36 points, followed by Willard (47) in second. For Edison, Jacoby Valimont (11:23.6) was second, Caleb Jeremy (12:04.1) was fourth and Carter Jones (12:40.6) was eighth. Gaius Hotchkiss (13:34.3) was 16th, followed by Noah Schoenherr (13:56.4) in 20th, Anthony Barker (14:25.6) in 23th and Alex Lamb (14:29.6) was 25th. For Willard, Dalton Reed (12:27.3) was fifth, followed by Nick Adkins (13:00.8) in 11th, Ethan Adams (13:08.8) in 13th, Jaxson Lane (13:40.4) in 17th and Eliseo Vasquez (13:48.9) in 18th. Also for the Flashes, Liam Wolfe (15:14.2) was 28th, Lucas Winans (15:46.6) was 30th and Enrique Martinez (18:17.6) in 37th. In the Bay girls race, Edison's Juliana Johnson (13:52.7) was third, while teammates Aili Corfman (13:58.2) was sixth, Ella Rogers (14:09.8) was eighth and Madison Geiger (14:18.9) was 10th. Also for the Chargers, Aria Hayward (14:49.6) was 17th, Autumn KriegMoore (15:34.1) was 20th, Miley Hamlin (15:46.4) was 23rd and Alice Watson (16:44.4) was 29th. For Willard, Helen Acosta (13:55.2) finished in fourth, Allison Rothhaar (14:45.7) was 16th and Keilly Hernandez (14:54.3) was 18th. April Pedraza (166:41.2) was 28th, Rosie Huerta 17:23) was 31st and Brissa Sanchez (17:31.5) was 32nd. FIRELANDS Wildcat boys cruise to first COLLINS — The New London boys had the top three finishers and five runners among the top seven on Saturday at the Firelands Conference junior high championship race at Western Reserve High School. The Wildcats scored 19 points as Carter Hicks (11:46.78), Fritz McCully (12:01.16) and Ryan Twining (12:13.27) were the top three finishers. Jackson Geist (12:58.96) was seventh and Trace Landis (13:25.79) was eighth. For St. Paul, Owen Mynarsky (12:57.24) was sixth and Rafeal Gross (13:45.12) was 11th Host Western Reserve had Ezra Green (13:59.44) in 13th, Jaxon Dalton (15:27.42) was 18th and Braiden Hicks (16:23.16) was 20th. In the girls race, St. Paul was third with 57 points. Western had the top area finishers, as Kara Woodruff (13:49.08) was third and Korissa Fraelich (14:09.92) was seventh. New London's Hailey Crockett (14:24.45) was ninth. For St. Paul, Anna Wright (14:42.08), Jenny Schwan (14:50.90) and Kate Ware (15:14.13) placed 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively.
