Norwalk splits home tri-match

NORWALK — The Norwalk volleyball team won for a second time in its last three matches on Saturday, splitting a non-league tri-match with visiting Shelby and Lexington at Norwalk High School. Norwalk opened with a two-set win over the Whippets, 25-16 and 25-18. The Truckers then fell to Lexington in two, 25-16, 25-19. Norwalk (3-9, 1-4) travels to Vermilion (9-2, 5-0) on Tuesday and hosts Bellevue (6-4, 3-2) on Thursday in SBC Lake Division play. Monroeville 3, Buckeye Central 0 MONROEVILLE — The Eagles cruised to a three-game sweep in a rematch of last season's Division IV district title match on Saturday. Monroeville improved to 8-2 with scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-14. Maddie Daniel finished with 18 kills, 13 digs, and was 13 for 15 serving with four aces to pace the Eagles. Madison Reiber had 10 kills and Alexa Adams added five. Also for Monroeville, Madi Clark was 15 for 15 serving with two aces, 27 assists and 22 digs. Abbi Poths was 13 for 13 serving with two aces and nine digs, and Lilly White was 10 for 10 serving with two aces and 18 digs. Monroeville, which travels to St. Paul on Tuesday, also won the junior varsity match to improve to 9-1 by scores of 25-16 and 25-18. Western goes 2-1 at MBK SANDUSKY — The Western Reserve volleyball team went 2-1 on Saturday at the Sandusky MBK Invitational. The Roughriders (8-4) opened with a three-set win over Lucas (21-25, 26-24, 25-17), then beat Sandusky (25-17, 25-12) in two before falling to Maumee (25-16, 25-11). Libby Weisenberger led the 'Riders with 22 kills and eight blocks, while Payton Friend had 10 kills and 28 digs. Emma Hammond served 18 points and Joslin Cain had 15, while Jamie Muenz was 165-of-167 setting with 51 assists, while Jordan Feaga had 27 digs. Edison 3, SMCC 2 SANDUSKY — The Chargers improved to 3-7 overall with Saturday's five-set non-league win over the Panthers. Edison won with scores of 20-25, 25-14, 25-16, 22-25 and 15-9. Karin Wlodarsky had 11 kills, 18 digs, and served 13 points with four aces to pace the Chargers. Kalli Quillen finished with 13 points, four aces, 22 assists and seven digs, while Ella Habeck had nine kills and eight digs. Also for Edison, Jorja Byington had eight kills, followed by Olivia Wilson with six and Dana Preston with four. Natalie Leimeister added 14 assists and eight digs, followed by Ellis Kramb with nine digs and 11 points. Sianna Woodyard added seven digs, and Taylor Wlodarsky and Stella Brown each had four. Loudonville 3, New London 0 LOUDONVILLE — The Wildcats fell to 6-5 overall with Saturday's non-league loss to the host Redbirds. Loudonville won with scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-17. For New London, Emilee Rowland had six kills and Sasha Bowens had five. Pailee Wilson and Madison Rowland each served five points, while Borwns and Jocelyn Speicher each had nine digs. Also for the 'Cats, Madison Rowland added seven digs, and Gracie Thomas had seven assists. New London visits South Central on Tuesday. GIRLS SOCCER Edison 5, Brookside 0 SHEFFIELD — The Chargers improved to 5-2 overall with Saturday's non-league win over the host Cardinals. Amelia Chartrant scored four of her team's five goals, while Abby Hearing had the other. Alaina Keegan had three assists and Julie Wilgrube finished with two assists. Brianna Marcy finished with four saves for Edison, The Chargers host Huron on Monday in an SBC Bay Division match.
