Golf outing raises more than $60,000 for local heart care

NORWALK — The 33rd Annual Fisher-Titus Foundation Golf Outing presented by Janotta & Herner took place on Aug 3. This year's event raised more than $60,000 in support of the Foundation's cardiac catheterization laboratory renovation project. This year's outing was the largest ever with 192 golfers in 48 foursomes, 86 sponsors and 53 volunteers helping to make the event a success. The first updated cath lab was opened in December of 2021 and the second in July of this year. Last year's Golf Outing helped renovate the first cardiac cath lab. "I know and love several of the people who have been saved by outstanding heart and vascular care at Fisher-Titus," said Angie Smith, director, Fisher-Titus Foundation. "I am so grateful to every person who has made a gift, at any level, to the Foundation's campaigns and events to secure needed improvements in cardiovascular technology and equipment; you have made that care possible." The cath lab improvements build on a series of capital improvements supported by the Fisher-Titus Foundation for heart and vascular care in 2019-2022 that have already paid dividends for Fisher-Titus patients and the community. Zoll X-Series defibrillators were purchased by the Fisher-Titus Foundation for North Central EMS ambulances with support from the 2019 and 2020 Golf Outings. The Zoll devices provide guided CPR/defibrillation as well as EKG monitoring in the field to identify heart attacks and relay the vitals data back to the emergency department in real time. The Stryker LifeNet system was also purchased in 2020 by the Fisher-Titus Foundation to receive vitals data from the field from all regional EMS services.
