WOOFSTOCK Fundraiser is Saturday.

NORWALK — Area residents are encouraged to come join the fun at the 13th Annual WOOFSTOCK Fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Huron County Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Ave. in Norwalk. "It's getting better and better every year," said Darla Gow, human society community development director. She said the event originally hosted veterinarians and other experts to set up booths and tables and talk to attendees on multiple topics, but has evolved into a more fun gathering for the community. "It used to be more of an informational type of event," Gow said. In the past four or five years, however, the happening has become more of a carnival, designed to raise funds for the humane society." This year's festivities will include three new events; a live band, a cornhole tournament and a dunk tank featuring local officials. As each new person mounts the tank, participants may bid for the first opportunity to dunk that individual. Huron County Sheriff Todd Corbin will sit atop the tank at 10 am, followed by Maplehurst Elementary Principal Ken Moore at 10:45 am, League Elementary Principal Dan Bauman at 11:30 am, Norwalk Mayor Dave Light at 11:30 am, and Norwalk Police Sgt. Zach O'Neal at 1 pm. The band "Rolling Outta Cleveland," will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. The band is billed as "Where Country meets Rock & Roll." A goodwill offering will be accepted for the performance. The food truck, "Food Fighters," will feature a variety of dishes, including hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, chicken paprikash, pierogies, Italian sausages, walking tacos and sloppy joe nachos, for prices listed, Gow said. The truck will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Carnival games with prizes, face painting and baloon twister Jo Jo's Jingles will be present and beer will be available from 12:30 to 8 p.m. Attendees may park across the street and walk over with dogs on leashes, (a liability form must be signed), and guests may meet animals looking for new forever homes. Participants may also meet Paw Patrol's Skye and PJ Mask's Catboy. Tickets are $1 each for activities. The cornhole tournament has availability for 20 two-person teams and guest are encouraged to sign-up soon while slots are still available. Pre-registration may be made at the Huron County Humane Society at $40 per team or by emailing information to community@huroncountyhumanesociety.org Day of event team registration is $50 and there is double elimination. There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place. Play begins at 1 p.m. Gow said she wished to thank the community for its support in helping continue the humane society's 69-year mission: assisting Huron County residents by maintaining a sanitary, secure and compassionate environment that enables attentive medical care for animals in need, while ultimately enriching families through the adoption of healthy, happy and thriving pets.
