Young entrepreneur

MILAN — Youth is no impediment to a successful business career, according to Evan Gassen, 17. Gassman, who will graduate from Edison High School in 2023, said he hopes to convey that message in an upcoming memoir about his business successes. The high school student, who long held a fascination for information technology, felt moved to create a technology-based enterprise for himself. "So, back in April, 2021, I applied for a limited liability company," Gassman said. "I was 16 at the time. "We're a tech company," he continued, noting that his business, Gibbabyte, LLC, indirectly employs approximately 10 people as contractors and is mostly involved with information gathering and manipulation. His firm can directly manage projects for clients, who usually purchase goods and services via e-mail, including software and prepared artwork. Gassman's company also imports clothing from a company with which he contracts in India, but most of his income is made from advertising sales, he said. The young entrepreneur would not disclose how much he makes, but said he does very well financially, for someone his age. With editorial work from successful novelist Matthew Hollis Damon, Gassman is penning a memoir of his business successes, as a tool to assist other young people considering similar career ideas. Gassman said he is still shopping around for a publisher, but hopes to complete the book and have it out in August of this year. "It's about my inspiration and what I've learned," he said, explaining that his ambition is to spark the same in others and that with hard work anyone can achieve their goals. "I just want to inspire others," he said. "It doesn't matter the age."
