More records fall for S.C. at Crawford Invite

NORTH ROBINSON — Led by another strong performance by the South Central track and field program, a total of eight meet records were broken by area athletes at Friday's Colonel Crawford Bob Royer Invitational. Host Crawford won the boys team title with 124 points, which was 30 points better than runners-up South Central (94). Western Reserve (69) was fourth, Plymouth (48) was seventh and Willard (46) finished eighth. The Crawford girls also won with 185 points. Lucas was second (92) and South Central (85) was third. Western Reserve scored 58.5 points to finish sixth and Willard (47) was seventh. The South Central 4x200-meter relay team of Carson Music, Isaac Blair, Parker Gray and Trey Beverly broke the meet record from 2017, and again set a new program mark by winning the event in 1:32.85. The same quartet also won the 4x400 relay in a meet record time of 3:32.71. Also for the Trojan boys, Music ran the 200 dash in 22.91 seconds to break the meet record of 23.29 set by Western Reserve's Colton Puder in 2017. Beverly then broke Puder's meet record in the 400, winning the event in 50.75 seconds, crushing the old mark of 52 seconds. Other meet records that fell included the 110-meter and 300 hurdles by Western Reserve senior Jake Jarrett. He ran the 110-hurdles in 15.57 seconds, but finished second by just .01 of a second to Crawford's Trevor Vogt — but both broke Jarrett's record in the event he set a year ago. Jarrett was also third in 300 hurdles in 41.43 seconds, which was also a meet record — but behind Vogt (41.32) and Upper Sandusky's Owen Mawer (41.18). Plymouth's Caiden Allen also broke his own meet record in the 100 dash, which was 11.43 seconds from last year. On Friday, Allen won the sprint in 11.4 seconds. On the girls side, South Central's Claire Osborn was second in the shot put with a record throw of 37-feet-2.5 inches, which was behind Crawford's Julia Feik (38-feet-7.75). Also for the Trojans, Onalee Keysor cleared 10-feet-6 and broke her own meet record by a foot in the pole vault, but Crawford's Gabby Roston also cleared 10-6 with less faults to finish first. Other top four placers from area in the boys meet included Beverly in the 200 (23.51), Gray in the 800 (2:11.13) and Blair in the 400 (53.22). Blair was also third in the long jump (19-feet-7), as was teammate Gavin Sexton in the shot put (41-feet-10.25), while Music was fourth in the high jump (six feet). For Plymouth, Allen was second in the high jump (six feet) and teammate Layne Bushey (six feet) was third. Malachi Keefe was third in the 800 (2:11.82), as was the 4x800 relay (9:11.83). The 4x100 (47.08) and 4x400 (3:50.68) relays were both fourth for the Big Red. Western's Aiden Beck was fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.58), as was Aiden Edwards in the long jump (19-feet-1.75). The 4x100 relay for the 'Riders took second (46.35), and the 4x200 relay was fourth (1:36.48). Willard's Austin Wallace was third in the discus (127-feet-7) and Fernando Huerta placed fourth in 10:56.22 in the 3200. Other area winners in the girls meet included Angela Williams in the 100 (13.3) and Osborn in the discus (111-feet-1). Williams also placed third in the long jump (15-feet-8.5) and fourth in the 400 in 1:06.41. Willard's Destiny Rose won the 800 (2:27.84) and the 3200 (12:38.71). South Central's Grace Lamoreaux was second in both the 100 hurdles (16.19) and the 300 hurdles (49.6). The 4x200 relay was second in 1:55.11 for the Trojans, and Regan Wolfrum was fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.22). Western Reserve's 4x100 (54.59) and 4x800 (11:19.76) relay teams each placed third. The 4x200 relay was fourth in 1:57.1, while Libby Weisenberger was also fourth in the 100 dash (13.46). Willard's Lindsay Vogel was also third in the 3200 in 13:11.70.
