'American Idol' singer Kenedi Anderson withdraws due to 'personal reasons'

Standout singer Kenedi Anderson removed herself as a contestant on "American Idol," citing "personal reasons." The 17-year-old had advanced to the top 24 before withdrawing from the ABC reality singing competition show's 20th season. "This has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make, but I know it's necessary," Anderson wrote in an Instagram post Monday night. The announcement came after Monday's episode of "American Idol" showed Anderson's final performance of "Human" by Christina Perri, which was previously recorded in Hawaii. After her performance aired, "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest explained to viewers that voting information wasn't available for Anderson because she had left the show. "We send her well wishes," Seacrest said. Anderson's performance on Monday's episode garnered a standing ovation from "American Idol" judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
