Monroeville drops a pair at Lakota

KANSAS — The Monroeville baseball team dropped a pair of non-league games in a doubleheader on Saturday at host Lakota. The Raiders claimed a 15-2 win in five innings in Game 1, then finished with a 14-4 win over the Eagles (0-4), also in five innings, in Game 2. In the first game, the Eagles had four hits from four different players, including a double by Duncan Steward. Heath Ringer singled with an RBI, while Braden Chapman and Collin Leber each added a single, and Landin Hershiser had an RBI. In the second game, Ringer was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Steward also doubled and scored, while Hershiser, Ashton Homan, Austin Nichols and Chapman each added singles. Monroeville is scheduled to host Mapleton in Firelands Conference play on Monday, then visit the Mounties on Tuesday. Fletcher Ross was 4 for 5 with 4 RBIs and four runs scored for the JV Flyers. Dan Schwan was 3 for 4 with four runs scored, while Noah Sumter added two hits and four runs scored. Also for St. Paul, Nolan McCall, Ben Rospert, and Gavin Thurston each had a hit. Schwan pitched four innings to earn the win.
