Business Symposium April 8 at Firelands

SANDUSKY — Bowling Green State University Firelands, in collaboration with Regional Incubator for Sustainability (RISE) and the Minority Business Empowerment Team (MBET), is hosting the BGSU Firelands Business Symposium: What's Your Impact? The conference will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 8. The purpose of the event is to gather like-minded business owners, leaders, students and individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit into one place to connect and hear solutions to pressing issues in business today. The theme of "What's Your Impact?" comes from the growing interest in addressing social barriers faced in the business world and workplace. Business leaders who are speaking at the event have addressed those barriers and found ways to do more to make a strong social impact. The Keynote Address will be made by Ariane Kirkpatrick, President and CEO of AKA Team. AKA Team is a multifaceted construction company based out of Cleveland. The event will include a panel discussion and breakout sessions for conversation. The panel consists of Kitty Brandal, President of Corporate Compass Training LLC; Katie Leimkuehler, Founder and CEO of Leimkuehler Media; and Dr. Lata Stefano, President of Stefano Dental. The panelists will share how they use social media to make an impact, address emotional intelligence and employee development, using impact as motivation in leadership, and new strategies to be impactful. Following the event, RISE is celebrating its 10th year at Costa Azul Mexican Restaurant. RISE is a program of Erie and Huron counties that provides support to entrepreneurs and small business owners.
