Local state-ranked trio visit their elementary alma mater

MONROEVILLE — St. Joseph Catholic School faculty and students provided a sendoff for three of their alumni Thursday morning, that was in addition to the public school's celebration. The state-ranked competed over the weekend in the Division III state championships. Monroeville junior Hunter Vogus, along with siblings Alec Homan, a senior, and Ashton Homan, a sophomore, experienced a dream come true this past weekend as the three wrestlers competed together at the same high school event for the last time. The three boys have formed a strong bond since their early days attending St. Joseph Catholic School. The Eagle trio has done many things together since their early days growing up — including being part of the same wrestling program all of these years. The three wrestlers walked the halls of their elementary alma mater Thursday morning while being cheered on by the younger students. The St. Joseph School family prayed over the wrestlers before heading off to the state tournament, asking that God bless them with a strong finish to the season. "Our school and parish are so very proud of these young men for their accomplishments," says Deacon Mike Wasiniak, school principal. "We are excited their dream has finally become a reality after enduring circumstances not even they could control over these past two years."
