MILAN — The Milan-Berlin Library District March 2022 Calendar of Events: Weekly/Long-term Programming Second & Fourth Mondays of the Month | 6-6:30PM | Berlin Preschool Story Time [ CHILDREN'S SERVICES ] Listen to stories, sing, dance, and make a craft. Children ages 2-5. Tuesdays | 10:30-11:30AM | Milan Stay and Play [ CHILDREN'S SERVICES ] In this program, we use music along with large- and small-motor movement to engage in a fun atmosphere that encourages care givers and children to foster early learning through play. This program will start with 10 to 15 minutes of songs, rhymes, and structured activities and then parents/ care givers and children are invited to stay and play. Ages 1-4. Tuesdays | 3-4PM | Berlin Tuesday Trivia [ TEEN SERVICES ] Teens ages 11-18 are welcome at Berlin for a battle of wits! Test your knowledge of book, film, music, and other pop culture related trivia! Fridays | 10:30-11:30AM | Milan Preschool Story Time [ CHILDREN'S SERVICES ] Listen to stories, sing, dance, and make a craft. Children ages 2-5. Berlin Public Library — March 2022 Calendar of Events March 2 & 30 | Wed | 3-4PM Perler Palooza [ Teen Services ] Join us for an afternoon of Perler bead crafting. Use colorful beads to create magnets or keychains in your favorite 8-bit-style shapes. Materials will be provided. Teens ages 11-18 are welcome. March 9 | Wed | 3-4PM Teen Graphic Novel Club [ Teen Services ] Are you a tween/teen that loves to read comics, manga, and graphic novels? Come join us as we discuss our latest selection for March - Pandora's Legacy by Kara Leopard. March 12 | Sat | 10AM-12PM Super Mario Day Celebration [ Children's Services ][ Teen Services ] Celebrate the Mushroom Kingdom's favorite plumber! Video games, paper crafts, and perler bead crafts will be available. March 14 | Mon | 3-4PM Game On! [ Children's Services ] Join us for some good old-fashioned fun, and spend the afternoon playing board games with your friends. Ages 10 and up. March 16 | Wed | 3-4PM Personalized Face Masks Craft [ Teen Services ] Are you tired of wearing the same plain masks at the library? Teens ages 11-18 can join us to craft personalized cloth face masks. March 17 | Thu | 6:30-7:30PM Adult Book Club | This Tender Land [ Adult Services ] As you spring forward to a new season, jump into this New York Times bestselling novel. Join us as we read This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger - a story of four orphans that escape the Lincoln Indian Training School. Journey across the country with these characters and experience their unforgettable summer. Books are available at the help desk. All are welcome! March 26 | Sat | 11AM-1PM Not Your Mother's Macramé *Registration Required [ Adult Services ] Join us for this hands-on macramé craft that is easy enough even for a beginner. This chic, trendy wall hanging will be a conversation piece you'll be proud to call your own. Experiment with different textures and various yarns in this materials-provided program. March 3 | Thu | 6-7PM Teen Advisory Board [ Teen Services ] Is there a certain program you would love to attend at the library? Do you have suggestions for how to improve the library's teen area or programming? Join new teen librarian Katrina at the Teen Advisory Board meeting and share your ideas on how to improve the library and plan future events. White Bread Alternatives *Registration Required [ Adult Services ] Stuck in a rut with your sandwich bread? Curious about "healthier" sliced bread options? Is multiseed better than whole wheat? Does gluten-free still taste like regular wheat? How can bread be keto-friendly? Sample a variety of easy-to-find sliced breads and take a closer look at their macronutrients to find out what works (and tastes!) best. March 10 | Thu | 6:30-7:30PM The Tragic & Little-Known History of America's Indian Boarding Schools [ Adult Services ] The discovery of Indigenous children's mass graves in the U.S. and Canada is heartbreaking, and accompanying news stories have provided revelatory information about Native American boarding schools to the masses. This program will discuss the government's motivation in starting Indian boarding schools, their impact on Native children, U.S. enforcement, and more. March 14 | Mon | 6-7PM Taste Buds | Can Do: Delicious (and Not So Delicious) Canned Foods *Registration Required [ Teen Services ] Sample a wide variety of both familiar and potentially unfamiliar canned foods to see if your palate "can do" or "no can do."
