Plymouth boys win, girls lose in finales

NEW LONDON — The Plymouth boys basketball team outscored host New London by 11 points in the fourth quarter for a 59-55 comeback win in Firelands Conference action Saturday night.The Big Red close the regular season at 8-14 overall and 4-10 in the FC, while the Wildcats fell to 1-21 (0-14).Plymouth led 14-7 after one quarter, only to see the Wildcats outscore them 15-3 in the second quarter for a 22-17 lead. The 'Cats then added a 17-15 scoring edge in the third quarter to lead 39-32 through three quarters.But the Big Red scored 27 points in the fourth quarter while limiting New London to 16 to leave town with the win.Clayton Miller and Josh Beebe each scored 20 points for Plymouth.For New London, Conner Byrd scored 19 points. Jamil Arnold had 15 points and Jacob Bilton added 11.Plymouth will face St. Mary Central Catholic (6-16) at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a Division IV sectional semifinal at Shelby High School. The Wildcats face Buckeye Central (7-15) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in a Division IV sectional semifinal at Crestview High School.
