The 2nd Amendment — reason is its reason.

In the constitution, the role of the gun is not that we rule with the gun, for the rule of the gun is the road to tyranny. The gun game is a "done" game. Readings of the second amendment veer off course whey they jump from role to rule, resulting in a culture fueled with weapons and not reason. The point of the constitution was to throw off the rule of the gun, and supplant it with rule of law separate from the role of the gun. We fail to the extent that we reason with the gun, civilly amongst ourselves and with the government. The irony is that by initially arming to shake off the rule of the gun, we now eventually pave the way to its return because a culture ruled by the gun is the easiest snatch for an autocrat; bigger guns win out. Bigger guns is a defunct game for individual liberty. We have now state national guards and law enforcement agencies let alone the federal forces. This sort of myriad balancing is what the second amendment aims for. Radical second amendment interpretations are an end game of shoot ups and massacres that destroy culture. Individual liberty is a sharing. Staying off the road to tyranny is to favor democratic structure and not guns. When guns are the democratic structure a bigger gun can always be found. The role of the gun in America has gone from the ID card "have gun will travel" of the wild west to the current NRA card identity of "have gun will unravel." The activist gin up for gun up NRA ideology is a gin sin against the constitution, not for it. The moral of the second amendment is abuse it and you lose it. We cannot afford to "fun and gun" our constitution. The unwritten law of the gun is one-upmanship- whether government against citizenry or neighbor versus neighbor. The gun is a failed cultural ethic top down bottom up.The gun genie out of the bottle pervades in all directions and only authoritarianism can get it back in.
