Crestview tops South Central to clinch FC title

OLIVESBURG — The South Central girls basketball team was unable to recover from a 19-5 deficit after the first quarter as it fell by a 50-35 score to host Crestview on Saturday in a Firelands Conference matchup. With the win, the Cougars improved to 13-3 overall and 11-0 in the FC, which clinches at least a share of a third straight conference title. South Central fell to 7-9 overall and 5-6 in the FC with the loss. Kendyl Beverly led South Central with 16 points and Claire Osborn added 13. Grace Lamoreaux contributed six points and Angela Williams closed out the scoring with four points. The Trojans host Mansfield Christian on Thursday in non-league play. Hannah Lyons led a balanced scoring attack with 12 points for the Eagles, who improved to 7-9 overall and 5-6 in the FC with the victory. Emily Lamoreaux scored eight points and Ella Sanders added seven for South Central, which also got six point from Kaili Ingram and one from Taylor Smith. For St. Paul, Morgan Endsley scored nine points. Georgia Crabbs added four points, while Ally Takacs and Paige McFadden each scored two points. South Central hosts Crestview on Monday.
