Towne and Country Players kick off 56th season

NORWALK — The Towne and Country Players, Inc. will open their 56th Season with their 15th Annual Veterans Tribute Show at the former home of the Bowling Green State University Huron Playhouse Summer Theater, 325 Ohio St., Huron. The Theatre is located in the McCormick Junior High School. This year's show stars the Tri-State Glenn Miller style Big Band, "Swingmania" directed by Je McDonald, a former student of world famous drummer, Gene Krupa. "The Red, White, and Blue and You!" is this year's tle which will feature interna onal vocalist, Laura Pedersen, Cleveland, and Toledo Tenor, Dan Welch. The show is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14. Area Veterans will take the stage, also. Frank Trautman, Sandusky, and Clark Hunter, Greenwich, will oversee the Prologue featuring musical patriotic tributes with some audience parcipation, recognizing all Veterans & Military in attendance. "Swingmania" has the largest Library of original Big Band music in Ohio by Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey, and Harry James. Welch and Pedersen will bring tunes made famous by Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin plus the most requested song by the veterans each year, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Tickets are free for the veterans and active military but must be ordered by Nov. 12. All tickets are $15 which can be purchased in advance or at the door. The show is open to the general public and is appropriate for all ages. Doors open for seating at 2:30 p.m. with the curtain going up at 3. Tap into Ohio maple syrup with Wakeman Maple Farms BERLIN HEIGHTS — Berlin Public Library invites community members to Tap into Ohio Maple Syrup with Janet Bowman of Wakeman Maple Farms as she shares fascinating facts and anecdotes about 100% pure Ohio maple syrup and how the specialty crop is processed from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Berlin Public Library. This program is free and open to the public. Wakeman Maple Farms is a small family farm in Clarksfield Township that combines authentic, heart-warming, traditional maple syrup production methods with modern technology and equipment to produce some of Ohio's best pure maple syrup.
