Robin Meade honored in New London

NEW LONDON — Robin Meade, a 1987 New London High School graduate, is currently the longest running anchor of a national morning TV news show. After winning a local beauty contest, Meade attended Ashland University and Malone College and earned a degree in programming and performance. She went on to win the Miss Ohio title in 1992 and was a semi-finalist in the 1993 Miss America contest. Her broadcasting career began in Mansfield and eventually took her to CNN in Atlanta, where today she hosts HLN's Morning Express with Robin Meade. In honor of her 20 years with the program, HLN's Coy Wire traveled to New London and on Sept. 10 headed up a live tribute to Meade with her parents, other relatives and friends and the high school band. Meade was unaware of what was planned and was surprised with a live feed of this event while on the air. It took place at the north entrance to the village in front of a new sign saying "Welcome to New London Ohio — the hometown of Robin Meade." The signs can now be found at all four of the major entrances to town. The Community Club met Sept. 21 to continue planning for Hometown Holidays and turning New London into WhoLondon for the month of December.
