Norwalk falls in five games to Columbian

NORWALK — The Norwalk High School volleyball team lost Thursday's back-and-forth match against visiting Tiffin Columbian in five games at the NHS gymnasium. Columbian claimed the SBC Lake victory with scores of 16-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-11 and 15-12 in the match that lasted just over two hours. With the loss, Norwalk fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the Lake ahead of Saturday's host Invitational. Kendall Weber had eight kills for Norwalk, while Kay Konik had six kills with two blocks and Lucy Schlotterer also had six kills. Alaina Balduff and Skyler Cassidy each had 11 assists, while Mac Wineman and Harlee Genovesi each had 18 digs, and Schlotterer added 10 digs. Huron 3, Willard 0 HURON — The Crimson Flashes fell to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the SBC Bay Division with Thursday's loss to the host Tigers. Willard lost by scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-16. Grace Hall had nine kills and MaKinley Shaffer had four to pace Willard. Cassie Hamons finished with 20 assists, while Jaiden Sexton had 13 digs, Addie Stephens had six and Kelsy Lykins added five. Also for Willard, Hamons, Lykins, Stephens and Ellen Fox were 100 percent servers, and Sexton served two aces. The Crimson Flashes host Western Reserve on Tuesday in a non-league match. Oak Harbor 3, Edison 2 MILAN — The Rockets rallied to pull out a close and lengthy SBC Bay Division win over the host Chargers on Thursday in Milan. Oak Harbor won the first set, 28-26, only to see the Chargers win the next two by scores of 25-21 and 25-18. The Rockets then rallied to claim wins of 27-25 and 15-11 to finish the victory. With the loss, Edison fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.
