Christmas in July a success in New London

NEW LONDON — Inspire New London's Christmas in July was a success, and it is doubtful Santa ever came to town before in the sidecar of a Harley-Davidson. Inspire has several events planned for August, starting with a rib cookout at Miller's Market in Norwalk starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 until the ribs are gone. A meeting for Inspire members is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, and at 7 anyone interested in helping plan the Sept. 11 Salute to the Services is invited to join in. Meet in the shelter near the scout cabin in the Recreation Park. The Back to School Bash is from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 downtown. The group currently is seeking donations of new or gently used school clothes and shoes, and Dollar General has a box for supplies. Taco Tuesday continues through the month of August. El Faisan Mexican Street Food serves tacos, tortillas, burritos, quesadillas and drinks, including hibiscus and horchata.
