Food Truck Fly In

NORWALK — The Firelands Aero Club is a new nonprofit based at the Norwalk-Huron County Airport. The club is hosting a Food Truck Fly In from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event is free of charge and open to anyone whether flying or driving. Member Jonathan Christman said they wanted to have a fly-in event to spread awareness to the community and surrounding communities of the Huron County Airport and the flying club. "We're going to have the EAA Chapter 50 Eagles out of Huron," he said. "They are providing free plane rides for children 6 to 17 to teach them about aviation and how planes work." Two committed food trucks include Off the Griddle based out of Huron and Sweets on the Street. The event may end at 3 p.m., but Christman said they will stay out to give rides as long as there are kids to give rides to. "We have had a lot of assistance from Friends of 5A1, the advocacy group. They've been great with assistance and helping get the airport ready," he said.
