Make a splash for Suhr Park

NORWALK — Restore Norwalk is accepting donations for a Splash Pad Project. The splash pad will be located in Suhr Park (35 W. Main St.) behind the gazebo in the open yard area. It will feature 15 total elements including flip'n buckets, squirt guns, an umbrella water feature and more. It will be free for the community to use. Jeff Westcott, one of the Restore Norwalk volunteers said the whole project will cost nearly $120,000. So far $3,000 has been raised. For the construction they will be using the local Legends General Contractors. Along with the gofundme, Restore Norwalk will be hosting a fundraiser on Sunday, Aug. 8. "It will be at the reservoir and we'll have local bands, food, Westcott's Shaved Ice, Touch a Truck, bounce houses and Sweets on the Street. We'll be selling hamburgers and hot dogs and someone is donating 500 BBQ chicken," Westcott said. The time and more information will be announced closer to the event. Since Restore Norwalk is made up of volunteers, all donations will go directly to the project. They are also seeking businesses and individuals who would like to donate to have a permanent plaque on the project. "We would love to break ground this fall providing all of our funds are raised," Westcott said. "I believe our community wants this."
