Students of the month announced at Edison

MILAN — The Berlin Heights Kiwanis recently recognized its March and April students of the month from Edison High School. Both students were chosen for their contributions to the Berlin Heights and Milan communities. March Abigail Lesniak's school activities and accomplishments include cross country (10th in the state and earned varsity letter); track and field (SBC MVP and earned varsity letter); bowling; student-athlete of the month; All Sandusky Bay Conference Division first-team; marching/concert band; National Honor Society; Spanish club; book club; Interact club and the honor roll. She is also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. Abigail's community involvement includes working in operations at African Safari Wildlife Park, volunteering at the Melon Festival 5K run and helping wrap OHgo Christmas presents. Abigail plans to attend Kentucky Wesleyan College to study zoology and wants to continue her running career in college. She is the daughter Erin Lisy of Milan and Philip Lesniak of Strongsville. April Mallory Stiles is the daughter of Carey and Carolyn Stiles of Milan. Her school activities and accomplishments include drama club (co-president, Outstanding Creativity for Play in a Day fundraiser 2019 and makeup design in 2018, Best Thespian 2019-2020); International Thespian Society (three-star Thespian, All-Ohio Thespian 2019-2020 and 2020-2021); French Honor Society president; French club; National Honor Society service committee; speech and debate (national and state qualifier in declamation, superior distinction); mock trial (OHEDTA 2021 District Trial Best Attorney); student council vice president; Interact club vice president; student of the quarter (English and social studies); Lead 2 Hope; Edison Works Ambassador; EHS morning announcement crew; Bellevue Society for the Arts (co-youth volunteer coordinator for Halloween hayride fundraiser, head youth costumer); Chapel high school student leader and child care volunteer); and Caryl Crane Youth Theatre and its teen board. Mallory plans to attend college in the fall to acquire a dual degree in theater/acting and marketing to become an actress and producer. She seeks to advocate for young women in film, television and production. * * * MILAN — Edison High School seniors participated in Edge Day to prepare themselves for life after graduation. They learned practical skills like self-defense techniques, vehicle care, how to budget their finances and more. They also heard life advice from recent Edison alumni, learned how to cultivate their passions and celebrated their upcoming graduation.
