Roy G. Back

NORWALK — Roy G. Back, 82, of Norwalk, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 31, 2021, at Stein Hospice Care Center. He was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Bayes, Kentucky to the late Laz and Viola (Brown) Back. He met and married Wanda, to whom he was married for 44 years. Together, they moved to Ohio where he worked for the Sanders Company of Greenwich, Van Dresser and PMS Consolidated of Norwalk. He served also as a police officer in North Fairfield. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and was a faithful member of Deliverance Tabernacle Church in New London. Roy is survived by his children, Sam (Marsha) Back of North Fairfield, Diana (Roger) Rhine of Greenwich and Michael (Lisa) Back of Florida; brothers, Freman Back, Chalmer Back, Russel "Pearl" Back and Kenneth Back; a sister, Cleda Childers; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and many step-children. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children and his first wife, Wanda in 2001; Hazel Back in 2013 and Rachel Back in 2021; two grandchildren, Anita and Annette Back; and brothers, Ray Back and Lee Back. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, June 4 at Deliverance Tabernacle Church, 4717 Prospect Road, New London. Burial will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. Memorial contributions may be sent to Deliverance Tabernacle Church.
