TRACK AND FIELD: Norwalk, Edison and Willard advance area athletes to regionals

FINDLAY — The Norwalk track and field program advanced two individuals to next week's regional meet on Saturday at the Division I Findlay district championship meet. In the boys 400-meter dash, Mason Hainline placed third in a time of 51.96 seconds, while Joscey Thomas placed third in the girls 800 run in 2:25.99. The regional meet will be held beginning at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Amherst. Also scoring points on Saturday for the Truckers was Kyler Kromer in the 1600 run. He placed fifth in 4:40.28. Summer Moehlman was sixth in the 800 (2:28.78) and Natalie Barber was seventh in the 100 (13.22). The 4x400-meter relay of Kayla Cring, Skyler Cassidy, Moehlman and Thomas also placed seventh in 4:44.42. DIVISION II Edison girls place fourth ONTARIO — The Edison girls finished fourth with 61.5 points behind Findlay Liberty-Benton (113.5), Huron (103) and Shelby (64.3) on Saturday at the Div. II Ontario High School district meet. Abby Lesniak won the 3200 run in 11:46.29 for the Chargers, while Torri Keyser was fourth in the 300 hurdles (49.62) and the high jump (five feet). Also placing fourth to advance to the regional meet in Lexington was Madison Corapi in the shot put (35-feet-2.25), Katelyn Jeremay in the pole vault (9-feet-2), and the 4x200 relay of Lydia Woodyard, Rachel Klepper, Jayla Medina and Tannah Vitaz (1:51.29). The Willard girls placed seventh as a team and had two district champions in the 4x400 relay. Two days after the 4x800 team broke a 35-year old program record, the team of Destiny Rose, Natalie Frye, Layla Dials and Mckenna Stephens won the 4x400 in a time of 4:08.74. Rose won the 800 in 2:20.11 and Stephens was second in the 400 (59.82). On the boys side, Edison advanced three individuals on Saturday, led by Garrett Scott in the 110 hurdles. He was second in 15.58 seconds. Also for the Chargers, Dylan O'Dell was third in the high jump (6-feet-2) and Caleb Hall was fourth in the 400 (51.85). For the Willard boys, Trenton Rupert was third in the 400 in 51.61 seconds.
