SOFTBALL: South Central, Monroeville pick up FC victories

NORWALK — South Central put up 11 runs in the first two innings and never looked back in Tuesday's 15-8 Firelands Conference softball win over host St. Paul at Norwalk Area Contractors Park. With the win, the Trojans improved to 7-10 overall and 5-5 in the FC, while the Flyers fell to 11-12 overall and 5-6 in the conference. Annie Cook hit a double and a home run to drive in four runs and score three times to pace South Central. Kaylee Richards also had a big day, as she finished 2 for 3 with a double and five RBIs. Ellysia Driver was 2 for 4 with an RBI and four runs scored, and Kyrstin Hamons was 2 for 3 and scored three times. Sarah Wallen also doubled and drove in a run for the Trojans. For St. Paul, Morgan Baxter tripled and drove in a run, while Marlaina Sowers doubled and drove in two runs. Sammy Lippert singled with two RBIs. S. Reserve 2 MONROEVILLE — The Eagles scored in all but one inning while banging out 18 hits in a six-inning FC win over the visiting Roughriders on Tuesday at Clark Park. Abbie Poths was 3 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Eagles, who improved to 15-4 overall and 8-2 in the FC. Payton Scheid had a double, a triple and two RBIs, while Callie Rosser was 3 for 3 with an RBI and Adelynn Kradlak was 3 for 4. In the circle, Scheid allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. Jessa Riley singled and drove in a run for Western, which also got singles from Grace Elkin, Gracie Hartman and Ashlynn Kerby. W.
