BASEBALL: Norwalk wins fourth straight in rout at Sandusky

NORWALK — The Norwalk baseball team steadily outscored host Sandusky over five innings — then broke loose for an 11-run sixth inning in Friday's 22-2 win over the Blue Streaks in an SBC Lake Division game. With the win, the Truckers won their fourth straight game and improved to 12-7 overall and 6-3 in the league. They host Vermilion on Monday with a chance to move into a tie for first place. Eli Obringer was 4 for 4 with three RBIs and touched home plate five times, and Nate Adelman doubled and drove in five runs and scored three times to pace the Norwalk offense. Sam Battles was 3 for 4 with a double and scored twice, and Isaac Scheel was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Also for the Truckers, Ian Minor tripled and drove in two runs, and Griffin Peiples singled and had an RBI. Jesse Cole pitched five innings to earn the win. He allowed two earned runs on two hits with four strikeouts and eight walks. Sam Tokarsky pitched a scoreless sixth with two strikeouts. St. Paul (16-4) had four extra-base hits in the game, but couldn't get the big hit off Huron pitcher Joey Schade. In the top of the fifth, Scotty Adelman singled and scored on an RBI double by Fisher for the lone run for the Flyers. Fisher was 3 for 3 at the plate and Adelman was 2 for 4. Thomas Bocock and Jaycob Stanley added a double each. "Anytime we had runners in scoring position, Schade was able to get out of it," St. Paul coach Aaron Fries said. "We had several opportunities but just could not string together hits." Fisher allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits with three strikeouts and five walks in 4 2/3 innings. Luke Blum pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts and no walks. "I was really happy with our defense, we were able to minimize the damage by making several good plays in the field," Fries said. "But they had runners in scoring position every inning with less than two outs, and it is hard to hold teams off the board when they have so many opportunities." Thomas Simon was 4 for 4 with an RBI and thew all five innings on the mound, allowing just an unearned run for Edison. He struck out 10 and walked two. Also for the Chargers, Dominic Dymond was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Noah Smith singled and drove in two runs. Luke Bissell, Blake Smion and Brady Barker also each singled and had an RBI. P.
