TRACK AND FIELD: Edison girls win Huron Invitational

HURON — The Edison girls track and field team finished atop the standings on Saturday at the annual Artie Miller Invitational at Huron. The Chargers scored 91.5 points, which edged out the host Tigers by just 1.5 points. Abby Lesniak won the 1600-meter run in 5:20.28 and was the anchor of the 4x800 relay team that also finished first. The quartet of Haley Chaput, Facemire, Sneider and Lesniak finished in a time of 10:25.12. Torrie Keyser was second for Edison in the high jump (5-feet), and third in 100 hurdles 16.59 and 300 hurdles (50.66). Katelyn Jeremay was second in the pole vault (8-feet) and Facemire was third in the 800 (2:37.58). Sneider finished fourth in 3200 (13:18.36) and Madison Corapi was fourth in the shot put (30-feet-10.5). Also for Edison, the 4x400 relay team of Facemire, Keyser, Lesniak and Jayla Media placed fourth (4:27.75). The Edison boys finished fifth with 65.5 points among the 12 teams. Dylan O'Dell won the high jump (6-feet-4) to pace the Chargers. Cole Weilnau was second in the 800 (2:07.01), while Garrett Scott was third in the 110 hurdles (15.66) and 300 hurdles (42.04). Aidan Anderson finished fourth in 3200 (10:42). The 4x100 relay team of Jacob Stoll, Troy Rutherford, Scott and Hunter Conley also placed fourth in 45.72 seconds. The 4x800 team of Anderson, Chase King, Weilnau and William Duniver (8:58.1) also placed fourth. Willard was seventh in the 11-team girls field with 54.5 points. Mckenna Stephens won the 400 in 59.67 seconds and was fourth in 200 in 27.32 for the Crimson Flashes. Layla Dials won the 800 in 2:27.85, while Destiny Rose was third in the 1600 (5:26.46) and Lindsay Vogel was fourth (5:26.95). The 4x400 relay of Rose, Dials, Natalie Frye and Stephens also took second in 4:21.52. Tristin Buurma was fifth in the shot put (29-feet-11). For the Willard boys, Trenton Rupert was second in the 400 in 52.6 seconds. Matlock, Schwan win at Upper UPPER SANDUSKY — Sarah Matlack and Caleb Schwan were individual winners for the St. Paul track and field team at Saturday's Gerald Swankhouse Memorial Invitational at Upper Sandusky on Saturday. Sarah Matlack won the 400 (1:02.29) and was second in the 200 (28.8). 3200 Megan Lesch fourth 12:50.13 4x200 relay girls 1:57.59 second In the 400, Caleb Schwan (54.58) and Ethan Nolan (55.32) finished first and second. Ryan Gross (2:10.92) and Nick Centa (2:12.26) were fifth and sixth in the 800. Ian Deeter was fifth in the 1600 (4:50.2) and Sebastian Gomez was fifth in the 3200 (11:01.16). Sam Scavuzzo was second in the long jump (17-feet-4.5). Norwalk competes at Tiffin TIFFIN — The Norwalk track and field teams were in action on Saturday at Columbian's Bill Krause Memorial Invitational in Tiffin. Highlighting the Truckers' performance was Kyler Kromer, who was second in the 1600 with a time of 4:33.26. Also finishing second was the 4x100-meter relay of Mkovik Petersen, Jaden Beatty, Noah Kluding and Mason Hainline in 45.95 seconds. S.C. girls second, NL third at Crestview OLIVESBURG — The South Central girls scored 108 points to finish second to the host Cougars on Friday at the 33rd annual Forest Pruner Invitational at Crestview High School. Grace Lamoreaux won the 100 hurdles (16.65) and 300 hurdles (51.13) to score 20 points for the Trojans. The 4x200 relay of Kendyl Beverly, Onalee Keysor, Lamoreaux and Angela Williams also finished first in 1:55.02. Keysor won the pole vault (9-feet-6) and was second in the high jump (4-feet-8) for South Central. Claire Osborn did the same, as she won the shot put (35-feet-7) and was second in the discus throw (103-feet-9). Angela Williams was second in the 100 in 13.45 and fourth in the 200 (29.27), and also finished second in the long jump (15-feet). Brianna Dobias was third in the 800 (2:55.41) and fourth in the 1600 (6:23.55). For the South Central boys — seventh out of 11 teams — Mason Kiesel won both the shot put (47-feet-10.25) and discus (135-feet-1). Gavin Sexton was second in the shot put (41-feet-10.75) and Braden Kiesel was third in the discus (120-feet-11). Also for the Trojans, Trey Beverly was fourth in 54.13 in the 400 (54.13) and Parker Gray was fourth in the 800 (2:10.3). The New London girls were third with 91 points, as Abigail Good won the 400 (1:03.02) and the long jump (15-feet-4), and Esther Schmidt won the 3200 in 13:07.72 The 4x800 relay team also took first, as the team of Good, Schmidt, Reese Landis and Alyssa Henry finished in 10:56.81. The 4x400 relay of Lacey Hall, Kora Landis, Henry and Good finished second in 4:31.73. Reese Landis was also second in the 1600 (6:09.47). Also for the 'Cats, Lacey Hall was fourth in 300 hurdles (58.55), as was Kaitlyn Gum in both the shot put (34-feet-9.25) and discus (97-feet-3). The Wildcat boys were fourth with 71 points, as Tyler Twining won the 400 (52.4) and was second in the 800 (2:04.53). Cole Kropka won the 3200 in 10:18.84, Mason Bess was third in the 300 hurdles (44.08) and Mike Dalton as fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.6). The 4x400 team of Dalton, Dakota Pearce, Bess and Twining took third in 3:42.07, and the 4x200 relay of Pearce, Elliot Stroup, Dalton and Bess placed fourth (1:39.58).
